Catalytic asymmetric synthesis, the production of optically active compounds by the use of chiral catalysts, has been significantly developed over the past five decades. This chemical synthesis is frequently employed as an efficient and environmentally benign method for the production of various optically active compounds in both academia and industry. This lecture presents the general aspect of catalytic asymmetric synthesis, showing our recent study on the synthesis of P-chiral phosphine ligands and their application in transition-metal-catalyzed asymmetric reactions.
